Sample Senior High Plans

Every student is unique. One of the best things about homeschooling is that you can customize your student’s schedule based on his or her skill level, needs, and passions. Grade levels are less important than learning and mastery. It’s not unusual for a student to work at one level in one subject—for example, math or science—and a grade ahead or behind in another—for example, English.

With that in mind, here are two sample senior high school plans to show how a student COULD move through the major subject areas at Mid-Metro Academy (English, Science, Math, Social Studies). Plan 1 is for a student who will enroll in PSEO as a junior and senior to earn dual credit (high school and college). Plan 2 is for the student who won’t take PSEO. Keep in mind that the way your student SHOULD progress through high school is based on your goals and his or her unique abilities and interests, not on any pre-set formula.

    Career-Oriented Electives

Some high school students may be unsure about college, and some may see themselves owning their own business or entering a skilled trade. Some students who plan to go to college want to gain a usable skill to help them earn money during a gap year and/or while they're in college. MMA's career-oriented classes can get students started on a side business or career while they're still in high school.
