FAQs

General

Q:

Where do classes meet?

A:

Classes meet at 3000 Hamline Ave N, Roseville, in the classroom wing of Advent Lutheran. It's a beautiful facility with charming, spacious rooms all on one level. We're convenient to most places in the metro area. Our neighborhood--just east of Northwestern University--is quiet, safe, and picturesque.

When do classes meet?

Classes meet in 90-minute blocks. Monday class periods begin at 9:00am, 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:00pm with a half-hour lunch period at 12:00pm. Wednesday class periods begin at 9:30am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 2:30pm with a half-hour lunch period at 12:30pm.

Q:

Is Mid-Metro Academy a homeschool co-op?

A:

No. We're a nonprofit organization that provides academic, arts, career, and technology classes taught by qualified teachers to home-educated students in grades 5 - 12. Parents are responsible for checking in with their students to make sure they are keeping up with what is expected from their instructors.

Q:

What are the parents' responsibilities?

A:

Parents are responsible to supervise and help their students with the homework Mid-Metro Academy instructors assign. The expectation is that parents are involved. Parents may communicate concerns or questions directly to the instructor to ensure their students' success in the class. Since students are homeschooled, parents assign the grades, although they can rely on feedback and assignment scores provided by class instructors.

Mid-Metro Academy is a drop-off class situation, which means that parents don't remain on site and don't normally attend classes with their students. If you have to stay on-site, you must sign in and you will be directed to the parent lounge.

Parents are responsible to make sure their students arrive for classes on time and are picked up promptly when the student's classes are finished. Students cannot be on site if they aren't in class (except for the lunch period).

Classes

Q:

What classes does Mid-Metro Academy offer?

A:

We offer core academic, arts, business, and technology classes as well as a variety of elective classes for students in grades 5 - 12. Click Register on the menu bar for our 2025-2026 schedule. Click on the name of the class to see its description.

Q:

Is a study hall option available?

A:

Yes. For a $50/period/semester, students can remain on site during a free period on Mondays and Wednesday in our supervised study hall. Register for Study Hall just as you would register for a class.

If your student needs a study hall last minute, the charge is $5/class period.

Q:

Can I register my student for a class outside the recommended grade range?

A:

Instructors may allow a student to register who is older or younger than the specified grade range for the class. Such situations require instructor approval and will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Feel free to email the instructor to discuss special situations.

Instructors

Q:

Who are the instructors?

A:

Many hold advanced degrees and/or have decades of experience in their fields and in education.

Q:

How can I contact an instructor?

A:

Click on the instructor's name under his or her picture on our Instructors page. Contact information is shown above each instructor's bio and list of courses.
